Canada's DFO Silencing Ground Breaking Research

Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans

Sockeye 1A recent article in Canada's Globe and Mail entitled "DFO’s stifling of research a case of déjà vu", accuses the department of silencing one of there own scientists. Earlier this year, Dr. Kristi Miller had a paper published in the journal Science. She suspects a virus is killing millions of sockeye salmon in the Frasier river, but the DFO has not allowed her to talk to the press about it. It seems this sort of thing is a common occurrence for the DFO and other Federal Ministries when it comes to the dissemination of important scientific information.
