Congratulations: A Huge Win for Wild Fish

Native Fish Society wins Sandy River lawsuit

I would like to congratulate our friends and colleagues at Native Fish Society and McKenzie Fly Fishers on their Sandy River lawsuit win! This is not only a significant win for wild fish on the Sandy but also for wild fish throughout the region.

Federal Circuit Court Judge Ancer Haggerty ruled last Thursday that the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) violated the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act when it approved the State of Oregon’s management of the Sandy River Hatchery. Native Fish Society, along with Eugene-based McKenzie Fly Fishers, filed suit against the NMFS on October 22, 2013. See their press release below.
