2009 Wild Fish Soiree & Benefit Auction Wrap Up

09 Auction SceneDespite challenging economic times, the important work of wild fish conservation here in the Northwest goes on in earnest. That was evident on May 16th as the Wild Fish Conservancy celebrated  twenty years of wild fish conservation at its Wild Fish Soiree and Benefit Auction at the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA.

The Wild Fish Soiree is always a time for WFC supporters to renew their commitment to wild fish conservation in the Northwest and this year, WFC’s twentieth anniversary, held special meaning. The Willows Lodge garden and the summer-like weather provided an enchanting setting as guests enjoyed lively and generous bidding on a wide array of items in both the live and silent auctions while savoring fine wine and gourmet food.

Amongst the many highlights of an absolutely delightful evening were Bill McMillan’s keynote address and Fund-A-Dream, an opportunity during the live auction for bidders to contribute to a specific WFC project or program. The focus of this year’s Fund-A-Dream was WFC’s Icicle Creek Recolonization Study. Inspired by a pledge from the Icicle Fund to match contributions and by Bill’s passionate keynote address, Fund-A-Dream raised a record $17,100. With the Icicle Fund’s match that becomes $34,200 for WFC’s Icicle Creek Recolonization Study!

Moreover, that figure can continue to grow as the Icicle Fund will generously continue to match funds donated for this project through September 2009. If you’d like to contribute to WFC’s Icicle Creek Recolonization Study and have your contribution matched by the Icicle Fund please contact us at  (425) 788-1167 or via email at info@wildfishconservancy.org
