First Nation's Serve Eviction Notice to Salmon Farms

The Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw First Nations are a group of 4 Tribes that reside in the Broughton Archipelago region of BC.  One third of the BC salmon farming exists in their territory despite nearly 30 years of opposition. The salmon farming industry does not have
permission to operate in Musgamagw Dzawada'enuxw territory. Last spring up to 40% of the young salmon leaving their territory were killed by sea lice from Cermaq and Marine Harvest salmon farms. Earlier this week three traditional leaders of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation (Kingcome) stepped onto the Cermaq/Mitsubishi salmon farm in the Burdwood Islands and served them an eviction notice. As we deal with similar problems here in Puget Sound, we must stand in solidarity and work together to halt this invasion and demand their removal from our waters.
