Petition filed by Wild Fish Conservancy, Center for Food Safety, Center for Biological Diversity, and Friends of the Earth in King County Superior Court against the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife challenging the agency’s decision to permit Cooke Aquaculture Pacific to rear steelhead in their Puget Sound net pens. The lawsuit challenges the agency’s failure to comprehensively review the environmental impacts net pens pose to wild salmon, water quality, and the health of Puget Sound in their State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and called on the Judge to require the agency to go back and conduct a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to comprehensively analyze those risks. |
