Fishing Through the Haze

With a deep red, smoke-obscured sun as our backdrop, the crew wraps up week two of test fishing. In less than 14 days, we are already over 3000 fish captured and 1600 fish tagged.

These days it’s necessary to spill our catch every 10 minutes to keep the fish from building up in the trap. There’s not many of us out here working the trap, so it’s all hands on deck. From sunrise to sunset (and occasionally into the night), we’re working at a constant pace to tag and release all of the different species making their way into the trap.

The trap is working beautifully; we continue to bring in lively salmon, unharmed and full of vigor.
